Lot Essay

The attribution was kindly confirmed by Eunice Williams, pointing out that the treatment of the hands is characteristic of Fragonard's. A drawing with similar hands, dated 1774, is in Frankfurt exhibited at the Grand Palais, Paris, Fragonard, 1987, no. 191.
