These display cabinets were reputedly used as cartonniers at Powerscourt and were placed on a pair of bureaux plats destroyed in a fire in 1974 which tragically consumed most of the house.

Second quarter 19th Century, English and in the manner of Edward Holmes Baldock after Andre-Charles Boulle
One veneered in tulipwood, the other in kingwood and satinwood, each with a rectangular sloping top and panelled sides with moulded borders and plain frieze above a hinged, sloping glazed door with acanthus leaf border, the shaped sides with foliate cast mounts and scrolling upswept foliage above the square plinth and tapering foliate sabots, one lock stamped 'PATENT' twice
