These sectaire commodes are interesting with their unusual fall-front top drawer and relate to a type oftem described as Lombard or Venetian. A related commode described as possibly from Padova is illustrated in C. Alberici, Il Mobile Veneto, Milano, 1980, pp. 119-121. The top of that commode is conformingly inlaid with a scalloped cartouche depicting a battle with riders.
