The rectangular bardiglio marble top with brass and marble mirrored superstructure above a frieze with laurel wreaths, on column supports and a shelf, on a simulated porphyry base of canvas laid down on wood, originally with mounts filling each side of the lower section and with a mirrored back, the plinth with discoloured varnish, the upper marble possibly a later 19th Century replacement, both the superstructure and the base with paper label 'Newton & Son UPHOLSTERERS & c. 63 Wardour Street SOHO'
