It is unusual to find a sancai-glazed camel with the addition of the rare blue glaze, but a somewhat larger example (62cm.) standing in the same position and similarly laden, its heavy areas of hair textured rather than smooth, was unearthed in 1983, in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, and later included in the exhibition, Silk Road, The Empress Place Museum, Singapore, 1991, Catalogue, p. 27.
