late edo-meiji periods (late 19th century), the first incised nagamitsu to (carved by) and signed in gold lacquer shusai, the second signed with incised nagamitsu to, the third inscribed tessai
Of musozutsu type, the first of reddish brown lacquer carved in sunken relief with a herdboy riding an ox, and with a tree of silver takamaki-e with kimpun dusting and with young bamboo, some incised and some gold lacquer, the rim and himotoshi both shakudo, the second of blue-black lacquer incised with a landscape of bamboo and rock, with elements of the design, including a scholar in a hut and a waterfall, in silver, brown and gold lacquer, the rim shakudo above the carved himotoshi at the side, the third of wood, carved with a long file of mendicant priests, the reverse with an inscription, the rim shakudo and the himotoshi carved to the side
