The bold neoclassical details of this chandelier recall the work of the renowned 18th century designer Charles Delafosse. Though it has not been possible to identify a specific design source, the heavy husk swags, foliate-cast candlearms and a grotesque mask all recall elements that appear on various wall-lights and lamps illustrated in A. Gurinet, ed., L'Oeuvre de Delafosse, Paris, n.d., vol. III, figs. 8 and 31.
