Lot Essay

The bold carving of this bibliotheque and the exaggerated animal paw feet most closely relate it to provincial examples from the Normandy region. An armoire with similar gadrooned cornice and with guilloche carving is illustrated in L.Oliver, Mobilier Normand, Paris, n.d., pp.28-29.
