Lot Essay

These lanterns were commissioned from Tiffany Studios by a prominent West Coast philanthropist in 1914. Several other lighting fixtures and chandeliers from this commission were offered in these rooms on June 7, 1996, including an important patinated bronze and mosaic glass "Peacock" chandelier and four pairs of "Peacock" sconces.
