A large Imari baluster jar and domed cover
with finial modelled as an eagle perched amongst flowers and rockwork, the jar painted and gilt with shaped panels of ho-o in flight above wisteria and chrysanthemums issuing from rockwork, all on a ground of scattered flowerheads and scrolling karakusa, the shoulder with a collar of butterflies, chrysanthemums and lotus, the cover similarly decorated -- 35in. (90.2cm.) high, circa 1700.
