A late Restauration or early Louis Philippe bronze and Siena marble mantel clock, circa 1830
The rectangular case surmounted by a model of the Medici Lion, above a circular silvered Roman dial signed V. CHEDEL A PARIS within an oak leaf and acorn cast bezel, the dial set below a gallery of stiff-leaf ornament, the lower angles of the case wrapped with acanthus leaves, the plinth with an entablature of egg and dart, tounged and lappeted guilloche above the scrolling apron with further acanthus ornament and beads, centred by a scallop motif, the twin going barrel movement with countwheel strike (bell lacking, with key and pendulum; and the pair of matching tazze en suite
