The case on an octagonal plinth supporting a laurel wreath centred by a later hinged cover for the winding square of the strike train, with fluted pedestal above inset with further concealed cover for the going train square, mounted above with oak leaf and acorn swags tied with ribbons at each corner of the stepped plinth for the urn above, set in the centre with the pendulum regulation square (hand lacking), the urn with lion mask ring handles and surmounted by stiff leaf cast and spiral-fluted top with pineapple finial entwined with a serpent indicating the time with its blued steel forked tongue against revolving circlets, with individual white enamel Roman and Arabic chapters, the substantial movement housed within the pedestal base with tandem going barrels within elongated narrow plates, going train with verge escapement with silk suspension with indirect wind to the urn above and strike on bell
