In wools and silks, depicting a central vase issuing a profusion of peonies and roses and framed by a trellis, above a shaped plinth hung with foliage and a further spray of flowers, on a cream ground, within a foliate-decorated ribbon-bound foliate column border and with foliate clasps to the lower corners, in a yellow outer slip, reduced in height and cut and reattached horizontally, minor areas of restoration
6 ft. 10 in. x 3 ft. 7 in. (210 cm. x 110 cm.)

Lot Essay

A nearly identical panel, but more extensive in height, from the collection of the family Seligman, was sold at Sotheby's Monaco, 14-15 June 1981, lot 56.
