THREE FRAGMENTS OF ITALIAN CUT AND CISELE GREEN VELVET
Early 17th Century
Voided to reveal a yellow ground and worked with small stylised flower filled vases flanked by birds, the ground spotted forming a lattice, pieced
8 in. x 9 in. (21 cm. x 24 cm.), 6 in. x 10 in. (17 cm. x 25 cm.), 10 in. x 9 in. (27 cm. x 24 cm.);
another of purple velvet, voided to reveal a yellow ground and worked with small scale peacocks, lions and other birds enclosed by stylised pomegranate sprigs, probably late 16th Century, some wear, pieced at one end
10 in. x 22 in. (27 cm. x 56 cm.);
and two other velvet panels
A long panel of crimson applied velvet, probably 17th Century, worked with stylised large scale pomegranates and flowerheads flanked by pairs of birds, framed by scrolling foliage, with metal thread outline detailing, damaged and repairs
20 in. x 112 in. (51 cm. x 284 cm.);
and a pelmet of crimson velvet, appliqu with a padded shell and scrollwork pattern in crimson velvet, silks and metal threads, outlined with cord, probably 17th 18th Century, worn, repairs and restorations 76 in. x 15 in. (193 cm. x 39 cm.) (6)
