Keith Murray's designs were highly popular with some continuing in production into the 1950's. The brown or bronze basalt is one of the rarest materials used and can be dated to pre 1940. After 1940 only black basalt, moonstone, straw and matt green were used as monochrome finishes. Keith Murray's designs were hugely popular in the period and were exhibited at 'British Industrial Art in Relation to the Home Exhibition' which was held at Dorland Hall, London in 1933. At an exhibition staged in the John Lewis department store, Oxford Street, 124 of Murray's shapes were exhibited.
