Lot Essay

The LNER was one of the four big railway companies that served Great Britain during the 1920's and 30's. They all exploited the poster to entice passengers to travel by train in their attempt to gain a share of the rapidly expanding travel for pleasure market. The railway companies commisssioned many of the best artistis of the day to visualise the seasides resorts, cities and stunning landscapes that were accesible by train.
