by Hertel, the 63in. (160cm.) long brass-mounted tapering body-tube with starfinder, supported on two brackets with adjustment screws for centring, rack and pinion and draw-tube focusing, finely knurled adjusting screws, lacquered-brass cast lead compensating balance weight, mounted on a brass rod with two supports, the body-tube mounted on an iron and brass alt-azimuth mount, the two circles with finely engraved silvered scales and verniers, with additional counter-balance, two mahogany adjusting rods with brass mounts and compass joint, raised on a polygonal cross-section oak column, with square-section brass supports on a cruciform and triangular braced base with castors and levelling adjustment screws, overall height with telescope in horizontal position -- 77in. (197.5cm.)
