constructed in brass with 6in. (15.2cm.) enamel dial (restored) signed ALLIEN N.Y. with Roman numerals, fast/slow regulation above 'XII', subsidiary evening/morning 12-hour dial above 'VI', steel spade hands, double key wind twin barrel movement, gilt platform lever escapement with back plate stamped 2696, the whole surrounded by a double twelve-spoke helm with gimballed lantern above apex mounted above and beside other details including a capstan, two anchors, blocks and tackle, all mounted on a rosso alicante two-stage marble base with stylised grommet trim and gilt base plate -- 23in. (59.5cm.) high; 15in. (38cm.) wide
