An 18th-Century brass and silvered-brass universal equinoctial ring dial,
signed on the equinoctial ring Made by Tho. Wright Instrumt, maker to His MAJESTY on one side within a foliate engraved cartouche and bordered with wheat ear decoration, the other side with I-XII (x 2) hour scale, the inner face with similar scales sub-divided with each hour having sixty-minute divisions, the bridge with sliding pin hole sight engraved on one side with a calendar scale, the other with a zodiac scale, both within wheat ear borders, each pivot end with foliate scroll decoration, the meridian ring divided on one side in four quadrants, the other with declination scale 0-90, the silvered-brass bridge with vernier scale and suspension ring, and fine iron screw clamp, the ring with adjustment screw -- 9in. (24.1cm.) diameter
