signed on the vernier index arm Troughton & Simms, LONDON, and further engraved on the vertical casing Royal Geographical Society of London No. 1, the 6in. (15.2cm.) diameter casing mounted with a bubble level, the silvered scale divided in four quadrants, with adjustable mounting for the needle, the exterior with two magnifiers, raised on a pillar support over the horizontal circle, with finely engraved scale divided in four quadrants, with two verniers and clamping screw, on tripod stand with three adjustable screw feet, with some accessories, in the original mahogany carrying case, with brass swing handle -- 12in. (31.8cm.) high
