A fine and decorative early 19th-Century brass, bronze and ferrous metal model of a single cylinder centre pillar tank mounted jet condensing beam engine
with cylinder approx. in. bore x 1in. stroke, inward facing centrally mounted valve chest with separate steamways, the valve actuated by gabs fitted to the air pump rod, parrallel motion, the anchor links supported by two turned and tapered columns, the pierced beam supported on a written column standing on a decorated bun foot, rod driven air and feed pumps, squared barrelled connecting rod, the crankshaft with gear drive to a countershaft with multi-rope pulley and flywheel with decorative turned spokes. Further details include eccentrics driven condenser water valve, gear driven Watt type governor, linkage and plug valve, the crank and countershafts supported in a frame mounted on slender baluster turned columns, the cylinder mounted on a rolled brass decorated condensate tank, the whole mounted on a rectangular water tank on four rolled brass decorated ball feet, finished in lacquer -- 10 x 12in. (25.4 x 31.8cm.)
