A fine early 19th-Century brass and ferrous metal model of a single cylinder beam pumping engine
with single cylinder approx. 1in. bore x 3in. stroke, cylinder head oil plug, inward facing centrally mounted round valve chest with semi-rotary valve actuated by rod driven gabs, separate steamways, inlet and exhaust steam carried to the valve chest through decorative side columns with finials, parallel motion, the anchor links supported on cylinder head mounted curved supports, decoratively pierced beam supported in a bearing within a tapered turned column with finial over and acorn and oakleaf decorated covers, rod driven underfloor mounted feedpump, rod type connecting rod, square section crankshaft with spoked flywheel, 'V' belt pulley and gear wheel. Other details include main stop valve, mostly cheesehead screws, mounted on a metal floor in turn supported on six turned columns, metal base and mahogany plinth -- 15 x 18in. (40 x 45.7cm.)
