A very rare gold-mounted jewelled presentation Box
marked with the initials of Friedrich Koechli, St. Petersburg, circa 1895
Oblong with cut corners, the hinged cover with old-cut and rose-cut diamond cypher of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna set on an oval reeded cartouche, at each corner with a cushion-cut diamond within two stylized scrolls, the border set with old-cut diamonds, the sides with reeded design, marked inside base and cover
3½in. (8.5cm.) long

Lot Essay

This box is recorded as being purchased by the Imperial Cabinet from the jeweller Koechli for 1,890 rubles on 23 March 1895, and presented to the Hessen Master of the Horse Baron Redezel on 18 January 1911.
