A FINE CHARLES II SILVER TANKARD
London, 1683, maker's mark HT crowned (Jackson, rev. ed., p. 143, line 7)
Tapering cylindrical with molded base, the body flat-chased overall with chinoiserie, including exotic birds amid foliage, the front engraved with a coat-of-arms and a helmet below a crest in a foliate cartouche and crossed fronds, with tubular scroll handle and corkscrew thumbpiece, the hinged molded cover flat-chased with similar decoration and with crenelated lip, the handle prick-engraved with H*F within scroll border over AE, marked near rim, on cover and handle
