Baluster-form, on spreading circular foot, with leaf-tip border above band of egg and dart, the underside of foot mount engraved John Harvey Pierce 1750, the neck mount engraved with arabesques and strapwork, the hinged domed cover chased and repoussé with cartouches enclosing a lion mask on one, a satyr mask, and a female mask, all amid swags of fruit, surmounted by a baluster finial above a flowerhead, the thumbpiece formed as a female mask wearing a headdress, marked on cover and neck mount, the foot marked with leopard's head
