Lot Essay

This can be loosely compared with Ruisdael's Sunrise in a wood in the Wallace collection, London, no. P247, which Professor Wolfgang Stechow and Professor Seymour Slive both date to the 1670s. An attribution to Jacob Salomonsz. van Ruysdael (Haarlem c. 1630-1681) may be considered.
