Lot Essay

Canton famille rose wares were very popular in 19th century Persia. Special services were commissioned, like that in lot 59, other pieces in this technique were sent to Persia with the centres blank to be filled in with local inscriptions and fired at a lower temperature while, for those who could not afford the real thing, local cruder copies were produced.
