OMAR Khayym (d. circa 1123). Rubiyt ... rendered into English verse.. Translation by Edward Fitzgerald. London: G. Norman & Son for Bernard Quaritch, 1872. Small 4 (212 x 154mm). Contemporary vellum gilt, covers with outer border edged with gilt fillets, onlaid red and green morocco cornerpieces overblocked in gilt, the inner border formed as a sunken octagonal panel surrounding a central ocatagonal panel with large central arabesque composed of various small tools, all heightened with touches of blue or red ink, the fillets flanked by blue and red ink ruled lines, the flat spine titled in gilt, g.e., signed at foot of front turn-in "Od. Nubie Sernaglia" (some soiling to spine), later morocco-backed cloth slipcase. Provenance: Jean Hersholt (bookplate); Francis Kettaneh (booklabel).
