Lot Essay

This is a holograph of the author, a mathematician and astronomer who was also a Qadi who worked in Isfahan. He should not be confused with the famous mathematician Ghiyath al-Din Jamshid al-Kasi who worked and died in Samarqand in 832/1429.
His other works are also on mathematics. It was not uncommon for a Qadi to be interested in maths, as part of his religious duties included the sharing of inheritance as well as fiscal duties.
