Lot Essay

Farukh Siyyar was the grandson of Bahadur Shah and ruled between 1713-19, when he was deposed.
A portrait of Azam Shah, son of Aurangzeb, who reigned briefly after his father's death, from the same album, was offered in these rooms 14 October 1997, lot 24.
