OTTOMAN TURKEY, DATED AH 1229/1813 AD
The long watered blade inlaid on both sides with silver and inscribed and dated 1229, the butterfly shaped hilt with applied rosettes and a central band of protruding roundels and rosettes extending down into the blade, the scabbard similarly mounted with repouss rosettes and roundels within raised chevron bands, the main body of the scabbard with scrolling arabesques in high relief, the tip of the scabbard with bands of feathering, terminating in stylised porpoise, rubbing to high points
