The indigo field with a row of small floral sprays below floral columns supporting a serrated triangular ivory tracery vine mihrab arch with pendant mosque lamp, a pale pistachio-green floral cross-panel above and below, in a pale buff border of meandering rosettes, palmettes, paired leaves and floral sprays between ivory floral meander and minor brick-red similar stripes, a short kilim strip at each end, very slight wear and corrosion, selvages replaced
5ft.2in. x 4ft. (157cm. x 122cm.)

Lot Essay

At the top of the prayer panel is the numeral 202. This appears to be the signature of a workshop. Two other rugs with the same signature were sold in these rooms 15th October 1998, lots 314 and 315.
