Lot Essay
The artist was the son of Laurent Jouvenet (1609-1681) and brother of the better known Jean-Baptiste Jouvenet (1644-1717). He was received by the Academy in 1701 and was a frequent exhibitor of portraits and religious pictures at the Salon between 1704 and 1747.
