A small carte-de-visite album containing forty-one cards, twenty-five hand-tinted, the majority of these with printed paper title labels on verso, two titled and with credits in ink on verso Stots Bashi. Lot Essay

A good collection of sixty Japanese subjects including portraits of the Japanese ambassador, Matsudaira and the last Tokugawa Shogun, Yoshinobu, known as Stots-Bashi. Other Japanese cards show costumes, trades and 'types' including several large family and other groups. The album also contains one carte by Miller of the Governor General of Canton; a study of Garibaldi's boot and a portrait of Alexandre Dumas by Nadar, two dogs and a cat by Richebourg, society portraits by Disdri, Petit, Mayer & Pierson and Silvy, the latter including an excellent study of Princess Blanche of Orleans with her doll.
