DESIGNED BY CHARLES RENNIE MACKINTOSH FOR MISS CRANSTON'S WILLOW STREET TEA ROOMS, GLASGOW, CIRCA 1903

Designed in 1903, 137 of these chairs were delivered to the Willow Tea Rooms. The vast majority were quickly modified by the addition of a top slat at the back to prevent damage to the top bowed slat through constant lifting, probably without the involvement of Mackintosh. Only a very few examples survive without this addition.
