An Imari five-piece garniture
Circa 1700
Comprising three baluster jars and covers and two beaker vases, decorated in iron-red, green and yellow enamels and gilt on underglaze blue with unrolled scrolls and quatrefoil panels depicting chrysanthemum and a pavilion on a waterfront with trees and two sailing-boats in the distance, reserved on an underglaze blue ground reserved with flowers and foliage, all between bands of meandering scrollwork and repeated on the domed covers (two covers and one jar restored, two beakers with rim crack)
the jars 52 cm. high, the beaker vases 43 cm. high (5)
