A rare enamelled Dehua Blanc-de-Chine figure group
Early 18th Century
Representing two European sailors standing on a semi-circular base with their arms over eachother's shoulders, one holding a fruit in his hand, dressed in a short tunic buttoned at the front over wide trousers and boots, each with a Chinese pigtail under the sailor's cap, the faces modelled and painted with European features, enamelled in pale blue, pink, puce, yellow, brown and iron-red (small restoration and chip to a thumb)
