Lot Essay

The cupboards in this and the next lot can be compared to the stools, tables and key-cabinet which Berlage designed for the Beurs in Amsterdam between 1903 and 1911. The type of wood, the way of constructions and the detailing resemble the furniture of the Beurs. See: Manfred Bock e.a., De inrichting van De Beurs van Berlage, Zwolle, 1996. However, Berlage designed similar furniture for various other buildings in this period as well
