A silver and silver-gilt snuff box and a brass and copper tobacco box
Marks badly struck, possibly Germany, circa 1760 and apparently unmarked, 19th Century
Of oval form lobed and profiled into panels, cast with an architectural scene with figures in the foreground surrounded by a scroll-and shell-shaped foliate cartouche, the mounts reeded and the other of oblong form, the cover depicting Duke Ferdinand von Braunschweig in oval cartouche surmounted by symbols of victory and a scroll-shaped cartouch with his name below, the reverse with text and centered by a warrior scene
