Lot Essay

The monogram on the toilet box, consisting of the letters TES(M)AIVB, is possibly of the Van Beeck family (lit: Den Blaauwen, A.L. e.a., Dutch Silver, Amsterdam, 1979, p.162.)

Also compare Voet, E., Merken van Haagsche Goud-en Zilversmeden, The Hague, 1941, p. 28, plate 10 and Frederiks, J.W., Dutch silver, The Hague, 1952, p. 376, for a silver ewer and basin by the same maker, bearing the same monogram as the toilet box on sale.
