A fine German silver Kiddush cup
Maker's mark of Hieronymus Mittnacht (Rosenberg nr. 263 and nr. 915), Augsburg, 1761-63
Set on a stepped domed circular base with scalloped rim, embossed and chased with a rocaille ornament and fluting, a facetted knopped stem, the octagonal tulip-shaped bowl chased with part fluting beneath a flower-head and rocaille border, inscribed in Hebrew along the slightly spreading lip: Zakhor et Yom ha-Shabbat le-Kadsho.
