A Silver Parcel-Gilt Megillat Esther Case
Apparently unmarked, Italian or Balkan, 19th Century
The tapering cylindrical revolving handle, decorated with engraved leaves and moulded bands, the cylindrical body embossed and chased with flowerheads centered by fruitbasket, surmounted by a vase with three sunflowers among leaves, the thumbpiece decorated with foliage and fitted with a ring, containing a Megillah, ink on parchment, 14 lines per column, parchment 10 cm (4in.) high, column 8 cm (3 1n.) high.
