Le diable, le soldat du bois, la poupe (Tavernier 140, pl. 21)

Depicted are actors from the ballet Marionettenflirt, which was completely designed and written by James Ensor. The ballet was performed on stage in 1920 in Brussels. The design drawings were made by the artist in 1912 and reproduced and published much later in 1929.
