Lot Essay

The Mangbetu people, who inhabited the Belgian Congo, had inordinately long skulls, provoked by the binding of the childrens' heads. This cranial deformation, which drew up the eyelids and eyebrows, was considered the height of beauty. As for the Tetela, they were one of the ethnic groups of the Mongo people, who lived in the African equatorial forest.
