The central door panel elaborately carved with a frieze of vine leaves and berries, flanked by two panels each fully carved with sheaves of wheat curving sinuously to each side, finely wrought hinges, handles and lockplates

Lot Essay

These doors were not only conceived, but were also carved by Dampt himself. They belonged to him, as did the cabinet offered in these rooms on 27 October 1998, Lot 308, and formed part of the interior of studio in Montmartre.
