Lot Essay

This finely painted KPM plaque is after the last dated work by the celebrated Dutch still life painter Jan Weenix (d. 1719). Dated 1718, the original canvas is thought to have been commissioned by Count Schnborn von Pommersfelden, as it was in his collection by 1719. The painting is now in the Wallace Collection, London.
