A Venice istoriato shallow bowl
Circa 1560
Painted with Bathsheba scantily draped and bathing in a rectangular fountain before flower-beds in a fenced courtyard with a woman carrying a ewer on her head with companion, King David, crowned and sceptred, standing behind a balustrade to the right with two courtiers below, with a town and mountains in the distance, the underside inscribed .re david. in blue and with four concentric yellow bands (extensively damaged and repaired round the well and side)
