Palo Cortado Reliquia Barbadillo
In order to satisfy the most demanding palates of Europe, Barbadillo bought some very old Sherries from the cellars of Don Manuel Arqeso, at 14,000 "pesos" per butt, when the market prices were at 1,200 "pesos" per butt, which gives a good idea of the quality and age these wines had even at that time.
These wines were blended with some old Sherries from Domecq, Agustin Blazquez and Rodrigo Ruiz Hnos "Sacrista" callars. In 1970 a cellar was established in the "Casa de la Cilla" for these very old wines. The Sherry selected for this particular bottling is the "No" butt from the first class of this "solera".
An attractive iodine colour, clean, with tinges of mahogany. On the nose it is complex, full and elegant with nutty wood aroma. On the palate it is dry and balanced, with flavours of slightly bitter, dried fruit. It is persistent and complex
