Hand-coloured engraved world map on two sheets each 1290 x 1010mm, together forming a wall map, 2580 x 1010mm, mounted on linen and folding, as issued. Decorative engraved title, compass roses, routes plotted, principal coastal places and features indicated, explanations and notices. (Some light browning and unobtrusive spotting.) Original maroon morocco, gilt (some light rubbing to extremities).

A fine copy of this very large world map. The Republic of Texas, declared in 1836, was not recognised by Britain and is not noted on this map, being shown as part of Mexico. English and American claims to Oregon however are noted. Not in Phillips.
