Lot Essay

Sutherland returned to Pembrokeshire in August 1944 with his wife Kathleen, in search of more material for his impending show at the Lefevre Gallery. He stayed at Haverfordwest with John Craxton and Lucian Freud, before moving onto Sandy Haven.
